Las Posadas

USF students perform Las Posadas at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 as they portray Mary and Joseph on a journey through the USF campus, re-creating their search for lodging. A traditional part of Hispanic Christmas celebrations, posadas (which means “inn” or “shelter”) are held on each of the nine nights leading up to Christmas, from December 16 to 24.

The USF procession will begin at the Pope John Paul II Center clock tower and proceed through campus before ending on the shore of Mirror Lake to lead into the Living Nativity.


Lighting of the Lake

As a shining symbol of Christmas, vigil lights will encircle Mirror Lake. You may dedicate one or more luminaries to a loved one, in memory of someone special, to recognize a special occasion, or just to wish a student good luck with final exams.

Call 260.399.8034 to order luminaries by December 4.

Admission: $10 per luminary.


Living Nativity

Living Nativity

  • Amphitheater (Next to the Pope John Paul II Center)

As an Advent tradition, members of the university community present a Living Nativity that witnesses to the power and presence of God’s love incarnate throughout history. Hear St. Francis tell the story of Christ’s birth much as he did in 1223 in Greccio, Italy.

Admission: Free

Cultural Christmas at USF: World Music with Chilean Roots

A new addition to our festivities this year is a Christmas concert performed by visiting Chilean cultural group KelsiCote. Their original compositions will give a gift of educational and cultural enrichment to the Fort Wayne community in this joyous season. This performance is free and open to the public.
