Why Study Biomedical Science Pre-Medicine?
If you see medicine as more than a career—as a calling to understand, heal and serve—our Biomedical Science Pre-Medicine concentration gives you the scientific foundation to pursue it. You’ll dive into the science of the human body, develop the critical-thinking skills needed to tackle complex problems, and build the knowledge, confidence and perspective to take your next step toward medical school.
Why Saint Francis for Biomedical Science Pre-Medicine?
At Saint Francis, we believe great physicians need more than a strong science GPA. They need scientific curiosity, sound judgement, compassion and a commitment to serving the whole person. Through rigorous biomedical science coursework, hands-on learning, close faculty mentorship and an education grounded in our Catholic tradition and Franciscan core values, you’ll prepare for medical school while developing the knowledge, character and perspective to become the kind of physician who cares for both the science and the person.

Personalized Advising
Your journey to medicine is personal, so your preparation should be, too. At Saint Francis, you’ll work closely with an advisor who gets to know your strengths, goals and aspirations. Together, you’ll navigate the pre-med journey from coursework and MCAT preparation to choosing medical schools and preparing your application.
Learn by Doing
Biomedical science is meant to be experienced, not just memorized. At Saint Francis, you’ll take your learning beyond the textbook through hands-on experiences in modern classrooms and laboratories, including our human cadaver lab, where you’ll study anatomy through direct examination of the human body. You can also put your knowledge into practice through faculty-mentored research, internships, medical mission trips, field studies and job shadowing with healthcare professionals.
“The science facilities are top-notch and having a cadaver lab on campus was a big part of it. I also wanted a smaller school where I could play soccer and have strong relationships with faculty. The faculty support was amazing.”
Yann Fattouh ’25 Student, Innsbruck Medical School, Austria
Know Your Professors. Be Known.
Your education should be personal. With small class sizes and faculty who are accessible, invested in your growth and genuinely know you, you’ll build relationships with professors who can challenge your thinking, mentor your growth and help you connect biomedical science to the patients you hope to serve. Our faculty brings expertise in advanced clinical medicine, anatomy, biomedical science, immunology, infectious disease, movement science and kinesiology, pathophysiology, physics, psychology and zoology into the classroom and laboratory.
Community That Extends Beyond the Classroom
At Saint Francis, preparing for a career in healthcare means becoming part of a community that values connection and service. Through the Pre-Professional Healthcare Honor Society, community service, campus activities and the study groups that form throughout Achatz Hall of Science, you’ll find opportunities to connect, contribute and find your people. Here, students learn together, serve together and support one another.
