To apply for a Saint Francis graduate program, you will need a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or international transcripts evaluated by World Education Services.

Admissions Requirements
To apply for Saint Francis’ graduate programs, you’ll need:
- For U.S. students: A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States.
- For RN-DNP applicants: An Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
- For international students: Transcripts evaluated by World Education Services.
Program-Specific Requirements
For admission to one of the Graduate Nursing Programs, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Meet general admission standards for graduate education at the University of Saint Francis.
- Hold an associate, baccalaureate or master’s degree in nursing.
- Associate degree graduates: apply for the ASN-Graduate Nursing Program track.
- Baccalaureate degree graduates: apply to the Graduate Nursing Program.
- Master’s degree in nursing graduates: apply for the Post-Graduate Nursing Program track.
- Hold a current license as a Registered Nurse.
- Have an undergraduate GPA of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Submit a resume or curriculum vitae.
- Submit three (3) letters of reference from professional and/or academic contacts.
- Complete and submit the Saint Francis Graduate Nursing Essay.
- Write a two-page essay in APA format that displays graduate-level writing on the following:
- Discuss your contribution to the nursing profession (leadership, education, mentoring, participation in professional orgs., etc.).
- Why do you wish to pursue a graduate nursing degree? How have you prepared for graduate studies?
- DNP applicants: What is your understanding of the qualities of a DNP, both today and in the future? What type of DNP Scholarly Project do you wish to take on during the program?
- Write a two-page essay in APA format that displays graduate-level writing on the following:
- Complete admission interview (Personal Interview).
Prior to admission, it is highly recommended that candidates:
- Have professional experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Complete an undergraduate or graduate statistics course within the past five years.
- For nurses applying for an advanced practice registered nursing (APRN) track, complete a minimum of a one-day shadow experience with an APRN working in their planned practice area.
- For nurses applying to a DNP track, investigate topics suitable for a DNP Scholarly Project.

All applications must meet the following:
- Submit a professional resume.
- Have a college GPA of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

- Transition to Teaching (TTTO): The TTTO program is 18 credit hours and prepares the student for the pedagogy exam required by the state of Indiana. The program leads to a secondary education license in grades 5-12. The student will also take the subject area test.
- Transition to Teaching Elementary Education (TTTE): The TTTE program is 24 credit hours. It leads to an elementary education license in grades K-6.
- Transition to Teaching Special Education (TTTS): The TTTS program is 24 credit hours. It leads to a K-12 special education in Mild Intervention or Intense Intervention.
- Master of Arts in Education (MAE): The MAE program is 30 credit hours. It leads to Elementary, Secondary Education Licensure, Special Education Mild Intervention or Special Education Intense Intervention. There is also a non-licensure track available.
Graduate Program Requirements per IDOE:
Elementary Education Requirements (K-6)
All applicants must meet one of the following:
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution with a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale.
- Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution with a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 point scale and five years of professional experience.
- Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution and proof of passing state-approved content area examination(s) in the subject area.
Secondary Education Requirements (5-12)
All applicants must meet one of the following:
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area that the individual intends to teach with a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Graduate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area or related field in which the person wants to teach.
- Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area that the individual intends to teach with a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and five years of professional experience.
- Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution and proof of passing state-approved content area examination(s) in the subject area.
All-Grade Education Requirements (P-12)
All applicants must meet one of the following:
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area that the individual intends to teach with a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- A baccalaureate or graduate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the subject area that the individual intends to teach with a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and five years of professional experience.
- Both a baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution and proof of passing state-approved content area examination(s) in the subject area.
