Saint Francis’ 3+3 program with Logan University allows students to save a full year of a Doctor of Chiropractic degree: after three years in Saint Francis’ Pre-Chiropractic program, students transition to Logan University to complete their bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in 4 years, for a total of seven years instead of eight. Students will matriculate at Saint Francis for a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 95 credit hours in coursework from Saint Francis and a minimum of 33 hours at Logan. For every subject required by Logan (completed at either institution), no grade below 2.0 will be accepted for credit. All 3+3 students must have a GPA of 2.75 or greater for the 90 credit hours at Saint Francis.
Students are admitted to Logan only as first-year Doctor of Chiropractic students. Upon completion of the required coursework, 33 Logan credit hours may be transferred toward the completion of the Saint Francis bachelor’s degree.
To be accepted by Logan University, students must:
- Complete the Saint Francis Pre-Chiropractic program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and meet all criteria for admission, including core competencies described in the Council on Chiropractic Education’s “Doctor of Chiropractic Program Requirements for Institutional Standards.”
- Students with a GPA between 2.75 and 3.0 may be eligible for admission to Logan at the discretion of the vice president for enrollment management
- Candidates must complete an application for admission (the fee is waived) to Logan six months to a year in advance and must complete all required application material, including:
- Professional reference
- Chiropractor’s letter of recommendation
- Satisfactory interview
The University of Saint Francis has entered into articulation agreements with three law schools in the Midwest: University of St. Thomas School of Law, University of Dayton School of Law, and Capital University Law School. The primary goal of these agreements is to create a seamless progression of academic degrees from the undergraduate to the professional level. Saint Francis and its partner law schools recognize that certain students have the capacity and readiness to complete their undergraduate education and their legal training in less than the normally required seven years of study.
Saint Francis and its partners desire to encourage these students by providing an opportunity for them to accelerate their course of study. Participating students can earn a bachelor of arts degree in Political Science – Pre-Law and a juris doctor degree in six years of full-time study, thus saving them a year of tuition costs and allowing them to advance more quickly in their education and professional career.
At Dayton there is an additional option: a student’s law school classes may begin with a “summer start” and, so long as a satisfactory GPA is maintained, proceed continuously—that is, through the following summer—so that JD courses can be completed in approximately 24 months, for a total of five years of study. (Alternatively, a student may opt to begin in the fall term and complete the JD courses in approximately 33 months, for a total of six years of study.)
Saint Francis will accept as transfer credits applicable to the bachelor’s degree up to 30 credit hours of coursework taken during the student’s first year of law school. The student is responsible for completing all of Saint Francis’ requirements for the awarding of the undergraduate degree. The student must also satisfy all requirements for admission to the law school that he or she wishes to enroll in.
