You want your commencement experience to go off without a hitch, right? Follow the steps below and concentrate on finishing strong in the classroom.
Step 1: Submit Your Graduation Application
Commencement will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
December 2025 Graduates
The deadline to submit your Application for Graduation is October 24, 2025. The application can be found on Colleague Self-Service > Graduation Overview. This is your first step towards graduation.
May 2026 Graduates
Beginning October 10, 2025 and through February 27, 2026, all students eligible to graduate in May should submit the Application for Graduation in Colleague Self-Service > Graduation Overview. This is your first step towards graduation.
August 2026 Graduates
Beginning October 10, 2025 and through March 31, 2026, all students eligible to graduate in August should submit the Application for Graduation in Colleague Self-Service > Graduation Overview. This is your first step towards graduation.
Step 2: Order Your Cap, Gown, and Announcements
How to Order
Degree-earning graduates can order caps, gowns, and tassels from November 4, 2024 through February 14, 2025 from Jostens. Orders must be placed by February 14 for guaranteed arrival.
Orders for announcements, class rings, or diploma frames can be placed here as well. Cap and gowns are delivered to both the Fort Wayne and Crown Point campuses during the Graduation Fairs in April.
Graduation Regalia FAQs
Students: beginning in October 2025, students will order here.
Faculty: You will receive an email from Jess Hornett (at the bookstore) to confirm what you need. From there, expect to get an email that your regalia is ready to pick up. If you would like to purchase your own regalia, we can charge you at the time of pick up.
Saint Francis believes that if you graduated, you earned your regalia! One set of regalia (cap, gown, tassel, hood if a masters grad) will be provided to you at no cost.
Students: February 20, 2026
Faculty: We’ll contact you in late January regarding your order
Contact the bookstore at sf.slingshotedu.com or 260-399-8075. We will include your order on a last-minute bulk order.
We will also have a few extra regalia sets on hand at Commencement. Keep in mind that if you do not order you may not get a perfect fitting gown.
You’ll get an email when it’s ready to be picked up. It will look the same as if you’ve gotten a book order from the bookstore! We will start processing the orders as soon as we receive the regalia in early April.
You can! You are responsible for shipping costs. To have your regalia shipped to you, visit saintfrancisgear.com and search for “regalia shipping.” The last day to order shipping will be one week prior to commencement.
Students: regalia is yours forever.
Faculty: unless you purchased your regalia, it is a rental. Slingshot will have a tote for rental regalia at commencement, and you can leave it there after the ceremony.
Hoods are only required for Master’s and Doctoral graduates. When you order one, you’ll get it with the rest of your regalia.
The University provides Academic Honors cords based on your GPA. Other cords will be given to the appropriate departments, club or organization. If you are eligible for an honors cord, you will receive that during check-in at graduation.
Up to you! Saint Francis covers the cost of one regalia package, so you can choose whichever degree you want. You’re welcome to purchase an additional tassel at the Campus Bookstore to reflect your other major. Additionally, if you are graduating with multiple degrees, typically, you would choose the highest.
You can order class jewelry and announcements on the Jostens page. The Campus Bookstore also has a selection of diploma frames.
To order a nursing pin, visit saintfrancisgear.com. Your pin will be delivered to the department, and you will receive it at the pinning ceremony.
