USF to host summer Theology on Tap series for young adults

FORT WAYNE, Ind.—The University of Saint Francis invites young people in their 20s and 30s—of all faiths—to the summer Theology on Tap series, presented through the Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.

The “Discovering God’s Image” series, planned by a local team of young adults, offers weekly talks from followers of faith, along with food, drink and fellowship. All are welcome.

The events take place at the Cougar Den at USF, 2701 Spring Street. Food and bar service begins at 6:30 p.m., with the program at 7 p.m., on June 20, June 27, July 11 and July 18. A 6:30 p.m. closing Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 25 in the St. Francis Chapel on USF main campus, with food and drink afterward at Achatz Hall of Science and John and Toni Murray Research Center.

Dignity of Work: Reflecting the Creator
Tuesday, June 20

A panel of working Catholics will include Marianne Stroud, a certified nurse midwife with Fertility and Midwifery Care Center and founder of Holy Family Birth Center; Cory Heimann, the creative director of Likable Art; Tricia Koob, a stay-at-home mother of four; and Nick Cooper, an electrical engineer at Franklin Electric. The panel discussion will focus on finding dignity and purpose in different walks of life and will include an opportunity for open questions.

Made in His Image: Reflecting God
Tuesday, June 27

Sr. Ignatia Henneberry of the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration will discuss the unique dignity of each person as it relates to topics of today’s world, and how to stand together as the one body of Christ.

Forgiveness: Reflecting God’s Mercy
Tuesday, July 11

Rev. Terry Coonan, pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Fort Wayne, will discuss the divine mercy of God, share how to experience forgiveness in your own relationships, and explain the beautiful gift of forgiveness in the sacrament of Confession.

Relationships: Reflecting God’s Love
Tuesday, July 18

Rev. Ryan Pietrocarlo, CSC, pastor of St. Adalbert Parish, South Bend, will share the beauty of authentic relationships and how to love those around us through attentive and sincere listening, even with those who disagree with us.

Closing Mass and Party
Tuesday, July 25

The Theology on Tap series will conclude with a celebration of Holy Mass at 6:30 p.m. in the St. Francis Chapel at USF. Attendees can enjoy food and drink after the mass in Achatz Hall of Science and John and Toni Murray Research Center.
