CROWN POINT, Ind.—The University of Saint Francis Crown Point will receive a grant of $385,129 as part of the Economic Development Administration’s Economic Adjustment Assistance program funded through the American Rescue Plan Act.
The grant will be used for purchase of medical training simulation equipment. Rep. Frank J. Mrvan of the First Congressional District of Indiana worked with USF Crown Point to help pursue and receive the grant. USF Crown Point also worked with the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission in securing the grant.
“The University of Saint Francis Crown Point greatly appreciates the awarding of the American Rescue Plan Act grant as we continue to prepare our outstanding students to excel and to serve the northwest Indiana healthcare community. We’re very grateful for Rep. Mrvan’s dedicated work in helping USF Crown Point receive this significant grant,” USF President Rev. Dr. Eric Albert Zimmer said.
The grant will expand USF Crown Point’s capacity to train qualified healthcare professionals in nursing, respiratory therapy, medical imaging/ultrasound, certified medical assistant, certified nursing assistant and more. USF Crown Point graduates will enter in-demand, well-paying careers in regional healthcare and be prepared to meet needs in healthcare fields that are facing critical shortages due to COVID-19.
