FORT WAYNE, Ind.—The University of Saint Francis welcomes Chelsea Nabozny as the Director of Cougars H.O.P.E. (Healing, Outreach, Prevention and Education), a position developed through a Department of Justice Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) grant.
Nabozny will oversee coordination and day-to-day responsibilities of the program, which was created through the three-year, $300,000 grant. The program seeks to address and reduce sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking (SA/DV/DVS). Nabozny will create a universal education program, collaborate with service providers, manage the Coordinated Community Response Team and work in multiple ways with USF students.
“We are pleased Chelsea Nabozny will join USF to lead Cougars H.O.P.E.,” USF President Rev. Dr. Eric Albert Zimmer said. “She brings tremendous experience in working with victims and coordinating healthy preventative programs and will be a valuable addition to our campus community.”
Nabozny spent more than five years as a victim advocate for the Fort Wayne Police Department and most recently served as Family Engagement and Youth Services Coordinator for Vincent Village. She has also worked as a counselor and rehabilitation services provider. She serves on the Mayor’s Commission on Domestic Violence, Sexual Harassment, and Rape.
“I am excited to join the USF community,” Nabozny said. “I am looking forward to getting to know the students, staff, faculty and alumni as we work together and continue to make the campus a safe place for all.”
