USF will join in celebrating National Nurse Practitioner Week

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis will join the American Association of Nurse Practitioners in supporting and celebrating National Nurse Practitioner Week from Nov. 8 through Nov. 14.

Over the last five years, USF has produced more than 150 nurse practitioners, many of whom diagnose and treat COVID-19 patients in primary, specialty, acute and long-term care settings. These nurse practitioners have dedicated long hours dealing with the pandemic, as well as many other healthcare issues. They put their health and lives on the line to serve others in need.

Nurse practitioners deserve recognition year-round, and especially during National Nurse Practitioner Week. The American Association of Nurse Practitioners also notes that this is the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife.

“The patient-centered nature of a nurse practitioner’s care is rooted in Franciscan values,” said USF Assistant Professor of Nursing Caitlin Krouse, DNP, FNP-BC, RN. “As professionals, we are taught to focus on the dignity of each person; we understand how strongly social, cultural and spiritual factors influence the health and well-being of every individual we encounter.”

Please join USF in celebrating and honoring our nurse practitioners as they provide high-quality primary care while focusing on health promotion, diagnosing health problems, treating chronic disease and improving health education and counseling.
