FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis School of Creative Arts will host visual arts and music technology workshops for regional high school students and teachers.
The workshops will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. Cost is $20 per student and will include all workshop supplies and lunch. Teachers may attend for free.
The visual arts workshops will be at the Mimi and Ian Rolland Art and Visual Communication Center off Leesburg Road on the southeast side of campus, 2701 Spring St. The workshops include photography transfers, wearable art, screen-printed t-shirts, 3D animation, traditional animation, drawing, figure drawing, ceramics and illustration. Teachers will spend the day with Dr. Kathy Danko-McGhee, director of art education and pre-art therapy. She will be discussing visual literacy strategies for the classroom. Part of the day will be spent at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art and six professional growth points will be offered.
The music technology workshops will take place in the Music Technology Center, 431 W. Berry St. Students will work in the state-of-the-art recording studios where they will experience the entire process of recording and mixing a song. Students will learn about basic recording techniques and music production using Avid’s Pro Tools and Apple’s Logic Pro X recording software. All students get hands-on experience working on a Neve recording console. Teachers are welcome to attend this day to expand on their own experience with music technology curriculum to apply to their classrooms and will receive six professional growth points.
