USF offers tour of Italy to students, community

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Students and community members are invited to join the University of Saint Francis School of Creative Arts on a “Grand Tour of Italy” this May.

The comprehensive tour is scheduled for May 8-18, 2020 and will be an excellent opportunity for students and the local community to experience four of the most amazing cities in Europe: Venice, Florence, Assisi and Rome.

A professional tour guide will lead the group, under the direction of Tim Parsley, Art Department Chair, and Dr. Esperanca Camara, professor of Italian Renaissance Art. Flights, transportation, hotels, most meals and museum admissions are included in the trip.

An informational meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24 in the Mimi and Ian Rolland Art and Visual Communication Center off Leesburg Road on the USF campus, 2701 Spring St. The dates of this trip are subject to change.

Tour highlights include:

• Venice: Saint Mark’s Square and the Peggy Guggenheim Museum.
• Florence: Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio and the Academia (Michelangelo’s David)
• Assisi: Basilica of Saint Francis
• Rome: Vatican City, Saint Peter’s Basilica, Sistine Chapel, Colosseum, Roman Forum, Villa Borghese.
