FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis will have a “Paint the Campus Purple” week to help raise awareness for domestic violence.
The university’s Criminologists in Action (CIA) Club will host events Oct. 21 through Oct. 26 as part of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The club will sell “Rise Up Against Domestic Violence” purple shirts, bracelets, ribbons and hearts all week to raise money for the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Victim Assistance Program. Purple is the color for Domestic Violence Awareness. Tables will be open from noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the Pope John Paul II Center and Achatz Hall of Science and John and Toni Murray Research Center on the campus, 2701 Spring St., and at the USF Business Center café downtown, 826 Ewing St. There will also be a banner in the south lobby of JPII. Hearts may be purchased to hang on the banner.

• A chalk-walk around campus on Monday, Oct. 21, featuring awareness messages on sidewalks.
• Cathy Maggart, Domestic Violence Coordinator of the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, will speak at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23 in Achatz Hall, followed by a walk around Mirror Lake.
• “Paint the Campus Purple Day” on Thursday, Oct. 24, in conjunction with a promotion by the City of Fort Wayne and Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
• “Rise Up Against Domestic Violence” at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25 at the Allen County Courthouse, hosted by the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Victim Assistance Program.
• USF Criminologists in Action will promote domestic violence awareness during the USF vs. Indiana Wesleyan University football game, which begins at noon Saturday, Oct. 26 in Bishop D’Arcy Stadium.
