FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis School of Creative Arts will host Visual Arts and Music Technology Workshops on March 8 for high school students and teachers.
The visual arts workshops will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 8 at the Mimi and Ian Rolland Art and Visual Communication Center on the USF campus, 2701 Spring St.
The music technology workshops will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 8 at the USF Music Technology Center, 431 W. Berry St.
The visual arts workshops with include a full-time faculty member and each student will participate in one of seven sessions: Stop Motion Animation, 3D Video Game Design, Photography is Magic, Sculpting Hands, Drawing, Ceramics and Illustration. Teachers will spend the day with Monika Meler, Director of Graduate Studies in Studio Art, cultivating a variety of hand and press printing techniques using mat-board stencils. Stencil carving, color mixing, press and hand-printing will all be demonstrated, making this teacher workshop an ideal class for those new to printmaking.
Music Technology workshop students will work in state-of-the-art recording studios where they will experience the entire process of recording and mixing a song. Students will learn about basic recording techniques and music production using Avid’s Pro Tools and Apple’s Logic Pro X recording software. All students will get hands-on experience with working on a Neve recording console. Teachers are welcome to attend this day to expand upon their own experience and receive Professional Growth Points.
