FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis will host a math competition for students in grades 8-12 on Wednesday, Feb. 13 in the Achatz Hall of Science and Research Center.
The American Mathematics Competition (AMC) 10/12 B will begin at 6 p.m. with a 75-minute test in Achatz Hall on the USF campus, 2701 Spring St. A program will be available for parents during the event, which concludes with food and refreshments. After the test, participation awards will be given to the competitors.
An optional, 60-minute preparatory session will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, also in Achatz Hall. For additional practice materials, go to amc.maa.org.
To register for the competition or for more information, contact Carolyn Exner at 260-399-8067 or cexner@sf.edu.
First administered in 1950, the AMC’s purpose is increasing interest in mathematics and developing problem-solving ability through a series of friendly mathematics competitions for junior (grades 8 and below) and senior (grades 9-12) high school students.
“We are excited to host this mathematics competition, and we welcome the opportunity to provide an academic challenge in a university setting for young mathematicians,” said Dr. Victor Kutsenok, spokesperson for the USF Department of Mathematics.
