USF Invites Community to Participate in MLK Day Activities

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – As many schools and businesses in the area will take a day off on Monday, January 15 to celebrate Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life, the University of Saint Francis is taking a different approach. Students, faculty and staff plan to pay tribute to Dr. King through taking, “A Day On, Not a Day Off.”
The University of Saint Francis welcomes the public to take part in this event. Participants will remember the life and legacy of Dr. King as they give back to the community.
Schedule of Events:
Monday, January 15, 2018, USF North Campus, 2702 Spring Street
9:30 a.m. – Registration (North Campus foyer)
10 a.m. – Program/Dialogue “Straight Talk with Ketu Oladuwa: Building Relationships in America”
Poet, journalist, musician and director Ketu Oladuwa notes that two crossroads in his life were his experience on Death Row at age 21, and a Rootfolks Sojourn 382-day motorcycle tour through the lower 48 states to challenge fear and discover the soul of America.  Ketu will share his experiences and lead us in dialogue about relationships, race, and community. This program will include music, questions, and dialogue.
11:30 a.m. – Call to Service/Mass (North Campus Auditorium)
12-12:45 a.m. – Lunch
Lunch will be offered for in the North Campus Gym. Individuals with a campus meal plan are asked to bring their meal cards and use their meal points; lunch will also be available for those who do not have a campus meal plan.
12:45-1 p.m. – Transition to Service Sites
1 – 4 p.m. – Service Projects (On and Off Campus) – please sign up for service projects at https://usfmlkday.eventbrite.com

L.I.V.E Forum with FW United – Public invited!

6 p.m. – L.I.V.E Forum with Iric Headley of Fort Wayne United
The Fort Wayne UNITED L.I.V.E. will bring members of the community together to experience a live panel discussion between neighbors, friends, and family members from our African-American community and the Fort Wayne Police Department. The panelists will share perceptions, perspectives, and experiences in front of a live audience.
