Mary Ann (Meyer) Koontz (BSW ’77) has published three mystery/suspense novels, three children’s books (coauthored by her granddaughter) and a recent collection of original poems, all since retiring from social work. More details on her books are available at makoontz.com.
1990s

Carlos Cruz (BS ’96) was named head coach of the Myanmar Mini Football National Team.

Jason Morrison (BS ’96) represented SevenGen at the AHMP 2025 EHS HAZMAT Summit in Louisville, Kentucky, giving a presentation on one of the industry’s most pressing topics: PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances).

Tim Beaumont (BSE ’98) became an assistant principal at Homestead High School.

Mary (Bush) Zolkowski (BSE ’98) was appointed principal of St. Francis Xavier School in Medina, Ohio, effective July 1.

Tony Hudson (MA ’99) was a nominee for the Nonprofit Executive Leadership Award, presented by the Foellinger Foundation.
2000s

George Morales (BSE ’01) was named Class 5A Coach of the Year by the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders. Morales coaches flag football at Arbor View High School in Las Vegas.

Robert Preston (BBA ’01) is director of services at TP Mechanical.

Aaron Elwer (BS ’02) coached Delphos (Ohio) St. John High School to the OHSAA Division VII basketball title—the first state championship for the school in 24 years—with a 29-0 record. He was named the Press Pros area boys Coach of the Year. His son, Cam, was runner-up for Ohio Mr. Basketball.

Greg Mendez (BA ’06) has his sculptures featured in “The Creative Life: Part 1” at Trine University in October. His works have been regularly featured in downtown Angola displays.

Rev. Matt Landry (BBA ’07) published his book, “Majoring in the Minors: Stories of a Minor League Baseball Fan.”

Eric Wagoner (BBA ’07, MBA ’11), football coach at Frostburg State University, was named Mountain East Conference Coach of the Year.

Michael Bechill (BS ’08) started a new position as digital faculty consultant at McGraw Hill.

Matt (BS ’09) and Rachel (Doehrman) Degitz (BBA ’10) welcomed their son, Caleb, in May 2025.

Kristin Miller (BA ’09) became integrated marketing manager at Parts Town. She was also elected to the board of directors for the DeKalb Chamber Partnership and the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana Michiana.

Rachel Day (AS ’13) was promoted to undergraduate program director at the University of Saint Francis.
Alicia Evans (BSN ’13) became the corporation nurse for the Whitko School Corporation.
Mike Zawahri (MBA ’14) became Vice President Finance—Growth Market at Parkview Health.

Hillary Troup (BA ’15) became a creative director at Trinity English Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne.

Zack Kittaka (BA ’16) started a new position as a senior creative designer at Polywood.
Blake Blaker (BS ’18) became the new head football coach at Bellmont High School.
Sean Boswell (BS ’18) retired from professional football in Spain, where he played for the Catalan Grizzlys.

Victoria Wagner (MHA ’22) is chief operating officer for the soon-to-open Orlando Health Watson Clinic Lakeland Highlands Hospital in Lakeland, Florida.
