USF to host math competition for grades 8 through 12

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis will host a math competition on Feb. 5 for students in grades 8 through 12.

The American Mathematics Competition 10B/12B will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5 in Room 204 of the Achatz Hall of Science and John and Toni Murray Research Center on the USF campus, 2701 Spring St.

The competition is a 25-question, one-hour multiple choice examination at the high school level designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. It provides an opportunity for high school students to develop positive attitudes toward analytical thinking and mathematics, which can assist them in future careers. The material covered includes topics from a typical high school math curriculum.

The event is free, but students should register by calling Carolyn Exner at 260-399-8067 or emailing her at cexner@sf.edu.

The event is sponsored by the USF Mathematics Department.
