Bio

Jane Martin has been teaching film at USF since 1993. Active in the community, she served the Fort Wayne Cinema Center on the Education Committee and as a Board member. She partnered with the Embassy Theatre for their Black and White Film Series and introduced films for the community from 2013 to 2017. She has also served on the WFWA PBS 39 Community Advisory Board as both a member and the president. She leads a Community Film Club and advises the USF Film club. Her study and teaching of film promotes the concept that when we are seen on the screen our human experiences are validated and supported. Her courses cover the technical, artistic, and communicative aspects of film. She has been honored by her students by being nominated and receiving the LeePoxy Award for Teaching Excellence and the Club Advisor of the Year. She has been honored by the University faculty by receiving the Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award. She maintains lifelong relationships with her alumni and supports them throughout their careers and achievements.
