FORT WAYNE, Ind.—The special education programs of the Educator Preparation Program at the University of Saint Francis are proud to receive national recognition from the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).
The recognition for the undergraduate and graduate special education programs came as part of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) accreditation process. Programs that earn national recognition meet rigorous specialty licensure area standards for the preparation of special education professionals. The national recognition demonstrates that Saint Francis graduates have the content knowledge of the specialty area that they will be licensed to practice. Teacher candidates at Saint Francis can pursue a bachelor’s degree in special education-mild intervention at the undergraduate level. Teacher candidates can also pursue mild intervention and/or intense intervention at the graduate level through the Transition to Teaching program or the Masters of Arts in Education program.
“We are honored to receive this recognition, which reflects the consistently strong guidance our talented faculty provide for students. Saint Francis graduates are ready to step in and make a positive difference as teachers once they earn their degrees,” Associate Professor of Special Education Brittany Straub said.
