FORT WAYNE, Ind.—The University of Saint Francis seeks public input about a Lilly Endowment College and Community Collaboration grant initiative and will offer four dates for the community to share their thoughts.
The public is invited to attend these Fort Wayne sessions (all will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.):
- Monday, Sept. 18, Allen County Public Library Main Branch Globe Room, 900 Library Plaza.
- Wednesday, Sept. 20, Achatz Hall of Science and John and Toni Murray Research Center at Saint Francis, 2701 Spring Street.
- Tuesday, Sept. 26, Achatz Hall of Science and John and Toni Murray Research Center at Saint Francis, 2701 Spring Street.
- Wednesday, Sept. 27, Allen County Public Library Main Branch Meeting Room A, 900 Library Plaza.
The University of Saint Francis has been part of the Fort Wayne community since 1944. Rooted in the Catholic and Franciscan traditions of Faith and Reason, its mission engages a diverse community in learning, leadership, and service. The Lilly Endowment “recognizes that colleges and universities often serve as anchor institutions in their communities, playing a crucial role in the vitality of their towns, cities, counties and regions.” That is why the Lilly Endowment created their College and Community Collaboration initiative. College and Community Collaboration grants help colleges and universities “envision and undertake collaborative projects with community stakeholders that enhance the quality of life and place in their surrounding communities.”
The University of Saint Francis was awarded a Lilly Endowment College and Community Collaboration planning grant. Members of the University have been working for months to develop concepts they believe will enhance the quality of life and place in Fort Wayne. This work has included examining the strengths of the University, the needs of the community, goals of potential community partners, and data about the state, region, and city. The result is three concepts the University wants to discuss with the community and potential partners.
Together, Saint Francis and the community can enhance the vitality and quality of life in the Fort Wayne area. The University looks forward to hearing from the public.
