The University of Saint Francis is distributing funds to eligible students for financial relief through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).
USF received $945,565 for student grants through the CARES Act for financial relief caused by disruption of studies by the COVID-19 pandemic. USF signed the Certification and Agreement on April 13, 2020 and the Department of Education approved the agreement on April 22, 2020.
Eligible students were notified of the funds and have received, or will receive, their funds either through electronic distribution or by physical check, depending on whether they have arranged for direct deposit. Some students who have yet to file their FAFSA may be eligible for funds upon filing.
Potentially eligible students who haven’t filed a FAFSA were notified of the opportunity to receive assistance and were given until June 1 to file a FAFSA to receive a grant.
The university distributed the funds equally to all eligible students who filed a FAFSA to confirm their eligibility, with part-time students receiving half of a full award. USF has distributed $914,500 in grants to 1,640 students as of May 7, 2020. USF has identified a total of 1,732 students who are potentially eligible based on DOE guidelines.
