FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The University of Saint Francis is offering summer workshops for local and regional art educators. Each course has been approved to offer points toward the Professional Growth Plan (PGP) required to renew a professional educator license with the Indiana Department of Education.
Introduction/Refresher to Digital Design

The three-day course focuses on various graphic software and the dichotomy of raster and vector-based imagery. The programs covered in this course will be:
- Adobe Photoshop: Discover the importance of raster-based imaging and the power of image correction and manipulation. Participants should bring one damaged photograph they are interested in repairing.
- Adobe Illustrator: Learn the power of vector graphics as used in logo creation and other forms of graphic design.
- Adobe InDesign: A brief introduction to desktop publishing and layout.
Calligraphic Workshop

Educators learn about working with oil and water-based inks to produce different effects on paper. Over a three-day workshop, participants will produce unique prints with texture and color printed from collage materials adhered to a rigid surface.
Aluminum Casting Workshop

The class will be sculpting out of Styrofoam, then packing that sculpture in green sand and transforming that to aluminum via casting hot molten aluminum into a sand mold. As part of a casting team, participants will have the experience of pouring molten aluminum. After the casting cools, participants will open the mold and finish their piece. No previous experience is needed.
