JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Undergraduate Clinical Director, the nursing tutor assists students in reviewing and understanding content from nursing classes. Serving University of Saint Francis students and the Saint Francis community is paramount.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES: 

  • Tutor students in nursing class content 
  • Interpret pertinent course materials such as syllabi, course/homework instructions, or any educational information that will assist in the student’s learning experience 
  • Facilitate student’s understanding of nursing course objectives and clarification of content 
  • Maintain attendance documentation of tutoring sessions 
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop review activities that enhance student understanding 
  • Maintain student confidentiality according to FERPA guidelines 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing 

Licensure/Certification 

  • A current Indiana RN license required 

Experience 

  •  Current knowledge of Medical/Surgical nursing with at least 1 year of relevant work experience within the last 5 years 

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Competence in educational principles and techniques used in higher education classrooms, laboratory and clinical settings  
  • Knowledge of the profession including theory and practice, procedures, and regulations 
  • Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and electronic) necessary to interact effectively with students, faculty, professional staff, administration, clinical affiliates, and the community
