History, Mission, And Vision

History

At 34,000 square feet, the Mimi and Ian Rolland Art Center is home to the majority of Creative Arts programs with a variety of workshops for various media.

Renovated in the early 2000s, the center has aesthetic qualities that are perfect for the creative process. High ceilings, natural light, and wide-open spaces contribute to the feeling that you’re in a New York artist’s loft.

The Weatherhead Gallery opened with the new renovation and has since welcomed some of the most dynamic and culturally relevant art in the State of Indiana.

Mission

Empowering artistic voices in the light of Franciscan values, our mission is to curate, celebrate, and connect through regional and national contemporary art.

Vision

Guided by the Franciscan values of compassion, community, and a reverence for creation, the galleries and collections at Saint Francis aspire to be a beacon of inspiration and cultural enrichment.

Rooted in the spirit of Saint Francis, we envision spaces that not only showcase the vibrant tapestry of regional and national contemporary art but also foster a sense of unity and dialogue. Through the lens of Franciscan values, our galleries aim to ignite conversations that transcend boundaries, celebrating the inherent dignity of each creation.

We envision an inclusive and dynamic environment that invites artists and patrons alike to explore, engage, and contribute to the collective narrative of artistic expression, echoing the timeless principles of Saint Francis in the modern world.
