Department of Psychology and Counseling
Psychology, the scientific study of human behavior, is one of the fastest growing areas for employment in America. Psychologists are employed in both research and applied areas. As scientists, psychologists study two critical relationships: one between brain function and behavior, and one between the environment and behavior. As health service professionals, psychologists treat people with emotional and mental problems as well as concentrate on behaviors which affect healthy individuals, such as in the areas of business and athletics. To become a psychologist, one needs to complete a doctoral degree in psychology.
At the University of Saint Francis you will develop an appreciation of the science of human behavior in an environment enriched with our Fransican values. Our degree programs at the bachelor's level are designed to prepare you for entry level employement in the field. Additionally, our master's programs prepare students to further their education at the doctoral level or work as professionals practitioners in an area of counseling.
