Undergraduate Programs
Widely regarded as one of the best teacher education programs in the state and region, the USF Department of Education offers a unique dual licensing program for secondary and elementary education majors. The Department’s dual licensing programs blend courses in content areas with special education courses that prepare graduates to meet the diverse learning needs of students with mild learning differences.
Under the watchful supervision of teachers and university supervisors, teacher candidates complete between 150 – 250 hours in classroom field experiences before they begin their culminating student teaching placements. Extensive exposure to on-site teaching experiences ensures that candidates acquire the knowledge and skills to successfully manage the challenges encountered in diverse, contemporary classrooms. New graduates enter the job market knowing that nearly 100% of USF undergraduates who seek employment in their majors have secured teaching positions. Our graduates’ job placement success in competitive employment markets attests to the Department’s reputation for quality, a reputation that is supported by professional educators across the region, throughout the state, and beyond.
