Want to do something to serve?
Center for Service Engagment
Faith and service go hand-in-hand, especially on a Catholic and Franciscan campus like ours. Here at the University of Saint Francis, service is in the very fabric of what we do. This was strengthened even more in the Fall of 2010 when we opened the Center for Service Engagement. If you are looking for opportunities to serve, then please visit their website for local opportunities and even summer service programs.
Alternative Spring Break
Back in 2008, Campus Ministry began sponsoring a trip during Spring Break that was not the normal vacation week. This Alternative Spring Break instead sends students to do service for a week. We have sent USF students and a few employees each year to rural Kentucky to participate in the Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) WorkFest - joining students from other colleges and universities from around the country, especially the Midwest.
We plan to send a group each March and would love for you to join! The group will be led down to Kentucky by a few USF employees who will serve alongside the students. The trip leaves on the Sunday morning of Spring Break and then comes back to campus on the following Friday. Highlights include:
- Housing assistance (repair, painting, roofing, siding, windows, doors, walls) in Eastern Kentucky
- Life-changing friendships
- Foot-stomping bluegrass
The cost per person is subsidized by Campus Ministry, so each person only has to pay $100. This includes transportation, lodging, and all food. If you are interested in participating in CAP WorkFest, then please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
