Undergraduate Programs

The School of Creative Arts (SOCA) at the University of Saint Francis will offer two new programs, the Bachelor of Art in Pre-Art Therapy and the Associate of Art in Studio Art, for the fall semester of 2012. The Bachelor of Art in Pre-Art Therapy is for students seeking careers in art therapy, a mental health profession that uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of individuals, and related fields. The program satisfies requirements for admission to graduate art therapy programs. Art therapists work in hospitals, residential care facilities, schools and state and local government agencies. The U.S. National Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a growth of 14-19 percent in the need for art therapists over the next 10 years. The Associate of Arts in Studio Art is an alternative for traditional and non-traditional students seeking art degrees. It includes many of the art and arts-related courses of the university’s Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art degree, and allows for completion in as little as two years’ time. Graduates desiring to continue their studio art education will be well prepared to move into the bachelor’s degree. Fall classes at USF begin Aug. 27. For more information on either program, contact SOCA at (260) 399-7700, ext. 8001. To apply, visit sf.edu/admissions.

The School of Creative Arts offers undergraduate Bachelors and Associates programs with multiple areas of concentration to develop dedicated artists, designers, communicators, and scholars who can express their talents and achieve their career goals.
