Valuing lifelong learning, the University of Saint Francis is committed to providing educational opportunities during and long after the time our students spend with us on campus.
Saint Francis alumni can benefit from monthly virtual financial wellness sessions focusing on all aspects of one’s personal finances. Fort Financial Credit Union’s financial literacy program currently consists of the following topics: money management and budgeting, understanding your credit score, debt reduction, life stage financial planning, auto buying, systematic savings, identity theft, understanding credit cards, home buying and tax preparation.
On campus, Fort Financial Credit Union works with Saint Francis in the following areas to encourage financial wellness with students and employees:
- Keith Busse School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership students receive presentations on money management, budgeting and understanding their credit score.
- TRiO participants receive brief financial presentations throughout the school year.
- Engage classes are offered to all students in their first year, and students receive financial literacy information as part of the semester’s curriculum.
- Campus Connection Days and the Resource Fair allow Fort Financial employees to meet with students and parents to answer financial questions and provide them with information on the credit union.
- Saint Francis Employee Development Day enables Fort Financial representatives to promote financial well-being amongst the faculty and staff.
Financial wellness is especially important for students to understand because it can impact their careers once they become part of the workforce. Statistics show that approximately two-thirds of Americans struggle with their financial health (Source: Financial Health Pulse: 2021 U.S. Trends Report). Struggling with financial health can affect workplace performance and cause unwanted stress. Achieving financial success can be life changing. Saint Francis and Fort Financial value their partnership and are passionate about helping to strengthen the lives of everyone associated with the university.
