Emergency Case Management
emergency (n.): "sudden occurence demanding quick action"
In some emergency situations, students not only must miss class but, due to the suddenness of the event, are unable to contact their instructors about their absence. SASS can assist in such cases by making the initial contact with faculty.
- The student should contact SASS as soon as possible when he/she knows he will miss class.
- A SASS staff member will then contact the student's instructors.
- After the initial instructor contact has been made by SASS, it is then the student's responsibility to communicate with his/her instructors relative to missed/make-up work, etc.
(In extreme or ongoing situations, SASS may assist with additional instructor contact.)
It is important to note that the case management service is for use only in emergency situations. Regular illnesses, funeral absences, etc. should be communicated directly by students to instructors.
