Social Work Club
The Social Work Club welcomes all university students to participate in community service and professional development activities.
Previous community service activities include:
- Adopting a Christmas family through the Salvation Army's Adopt-a-Family program
- Collborating with the YWCA in Chalk-It-Up: Awarness of Domestic Violence Month by writing facts about domestic violence on the side walks of the university
- Organizing an AIDS Walk: Walk Around the World to raise funds for orphans in Africa who are impacted by AIDS
- Collecting diapers and wipes for the YWCA Women's Shelter
- Raising funds by selling pumpkins before football games
Professional development activities include:
- Attending professional social work conferences
- Organizing professional development seminars to learn about social work employment opportunities
- Serving on the Social Work Advocacy Team which provides social work students with an opportunity to advocate on their own behalf
