About Social Work

If the world were a perfect place, everyone’s needs would be met. There would be no hunger, no homelessness, no violence, no discrimination, no wars. There would be no addictions, no child abuse, no injustice of any kind.

But the world is not a perfect place.

Many people are not only dissatisfied with our imperfect world, but want to do something to make it better. Social workers fall into this category. They are passionately motivated to make things better for individuals, families, groups, and communities.

If you believe in the strengths of all people, the dignity of each individual, the determination and ability of people to overcome great odds, the capacity of communities to bring about social change, and your own ability to make a difference, social work might be the right professional choice for you.

The University of Saint Francis offers a Bachelor’s in Social Work (BSW) that has met the rigorous accreditation standards of the Council on Social Work Education, and is the only accredited social work program in Allen County Indiana. In our BSW program, you will experience thorough academic and professional preparation, designed to prepare you for a career in social work or graduate education.
