Master of Science in Pastoral Counseling

The University of Saint Francis is in a unique position to train highly-skilled counselors. USF's program offers a pastoral, faith-based component as part of counseling programs for those students wishing to have advanced education and experience in this area.

Pastoral counselors are a major provider of mental health services in this country, accounting for more than three million hours of treatment annually in both institutional and private settings. Pastoral counselors are often on the front line in helping individuals and families cope with serious personal and family problems. These might include drug and alcohol abuse, family conflict, depression and suicide, child and spouse abuse, as well as other problems.

Besides the Master of Science in Pastoral Counseling, the Department of Psychology and Counseling also offers an Advanced Certificate in Pastoral Counseling for licensed mental health professionals.

The program is designed to meet the requirements of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.

Courses for both the Master of Science and the Advanced Certificate are offered in the evening and on weekends to accommodate working adults.

For more information about the program, contact the Admissions Office or call Dr. Carl Jylland-Halverson at 260-399-7700 ext. 8421.
