University of Saint Francis hosting faculty lecture series

Sept. 26, 2013 FORT WAYNE, Ind.—The University of Saint Francis Department of Philosophy and Theology will host a series of free public lectures in auditoriums across campus through spring. The lectures and speakers follow.

Most Reverend Bishop Kevin Rhoades of the Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend will present “On Same Sex Marriage” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17 in the North Campus auditorium.

On Sunday, Nov. 17 at 3 p.m. in Gunderson Auditorium in Achatz Hall of Science, USF President Sister M. Elise Kriss, OSF, Sister Anita Holzmer, OSF, Sister Felicity Dorset, OSF and Sister Jacinta Krecek, OSF will present “The Significance of Mother Theresia Bonzel and Her Beatification.”

Dr. Earl Kumfer will present the lecture, “Duns Scotus, Architect of the Immaculate Conception” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 in Gunderson Auditorium.

“Five Feasts of the Child Jesus” will be presented by Sister Felicity Dorsett on Sunday, Jan. 12 2014 at 3 p.m. in the North Campus Auditorium.

On Thursday, Feb. 20, Dr. Adam DeVille and Dr. Esperanca Camara will give the lecture “Iconography and Iconoclasm” in the North Campus auditorium at 1 p.m.

Sister Anita Holzer will present “St. Francis/Pope Francis: Don’t Forget the Poor” on Sunday, April 10 at 1 p.m. in the Brookside Ballroom.

The annual faculty series is a service to the campus and regional communities to provide a forum for the communication and discussion of important topics within the Catholic and Franciscan tradition.
