Formula for Life chalks up $10,000 more for Haitian orphans

USF’s student-led Formula for Life raised an additional $10,000 this spring at its fifth annual 5K run/walk and silent auction for the orphans at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Orphanage in rural northern Haiti.

Wearing their “It’s All for Them” t-shirts, 358 registrants enjoyed a beautiful day, a worthwhile cause, and a family-friendly atmosphere at this year's event.

In early May, several Formula for Life students will travel to Haiti and present Father Andre Sylvestre, director of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Orphanage, with the funds their organization raised.

The first priority for the money is nutritional support for the children. Remaining funds will be combined with the $50,000 Formula for Life raised during the fall semester for construction of the first permanent residential home for the children.
