Eric Toy

On a day when temperatures were below zero, and wind chills were hovering around -40 degrees, Eric Toy did something truly selfless.

Both Eric and Diana Lelonek are enrolled in a Sociology class. Diana volunteers at the Rescue Mission and had brought in a homeless gentleman to speak to the class. The gentleman spoke of how hard it is for the homeless to stay warm in cold weather.

After class was dismissed and most of the students had left, Eric approached the gentleman and shook his hand and thanked him for sharing his story. He then proceeded to remove his coat and gloves and give them to the gentleman. He also gave him a business card and told him that he fixed bicycles and that if he or any other homeless individuals had old bicycles they ride that may need repair he would take care of them free of charge.

Eric truly exemplifies the Franciscan value of reverencing the unique dignity of each person.
