Masters in Special Education, Exceptional Needs: Mild or Intense Intervention - Online
USF offers a fully online master of education degree and licensing programs in special education (exceptional needs) for time-challenged, working adults. Our programs are tailored to meet your needs. You have the option of demonstrating specific knowledge and skill sets you have already mastered. Why take courses in what you currently know and know how to do? With customized programming, you are freed of the traditional 3 credit hour system, thereby providing opportunities to improve those skills you actually need.
Those students who prefer face to face classroom experiences, may opt for the hybrid graduate programs, with class sessions scheduled periodically throughout the semester.
USF’s graduate level courses prepare candidates for initial or advanced licensure to educate students who require mild or intense intervention services. If you are currently a licensed teacher, USF’s programs will expand and enhance your professional skills and breadth of your teaching options.
Candidates acquire academic skills in action research and develop leadership skills to function as change agents. The coursework reflects standards advocated by the State of Indiana, National Board for Professional Teacher Standards (NBPTS) and the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). The USF Department of Education is fully accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
Mild Intervention
In the mild intervention program you will work with students with emotional, learning, or behavioral disabilities requiring mild or moderate levels of support in elementary or secondary school settings.
Intense Intervention
In the intense intervention program, you will work with students with moderate or significant cognitive or multiple disabilities requiring high levels of support in elementary or secondary school settings.
The Department welcomes your questions and inquiries. Please contact the Director of Exceptional Needs, Dr. Marlaine K. Chase at mchase@sf.edu or 260 399-7700 ext. 8418 or apply online.
