Dr. Shawn Ambrose is an Assistant Professor of Business Administration at the Keith Busse School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership. He holds a Ph.D from Capella University, an MBA from the University of Akron, and a B.A. in Communications/Journalism from Shippensburg University. Prior to joining USF (2011), Dr. Ambrose served as the Chair of the Business and Technology Division at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College in Wisconsin.
Dr. Ambrose is a fellow of the Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society (IUS).The IUS is a forum for the interchange and assessment of research and scholarship in the social and behavioral sciences dealing with the military establishment and civil-military relations. As an IUS fellow, Dr. Ambrose has presented papers and served as a panel chair at many IUS International Conferences.
Dr. Ambrose is a member of the Peer Review Corps of the Higher Learning Commission, the regional college and university agency for 19 states in the North Central region of the United States. As a peer reviewer, Dr. Ambrose is responsible for consulting educational institutions on academic quality and continuous improvement; along with providing public assurance of the quality of the educational institution.
Dr. Ambrose served 23 years in the Army National Guard, including a combat tour in Iraq during 2003-2004. He received several decorations for duty, including the Combat Action Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Army Achievement Medal. In addition to military service, Dr. Ambrose served in managerial positions with Au Bon Pain, Panera Bread, and OfficeMax.
Dr. Ambrose is a scouter in the Boy Scouts of America and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. He lives in Fort Wayne with his wife Melinda, along with five of their seven children.
