Each student must successfully complete the comprehensive exam before registering for THEO 595. The grade received for the exam will partially satisfy the requirements for THEO 595.
Early each semester the Program Director will announce the date of the exam and provide an extensive reading list (determined by faculty who teach courses in the program). Students wishing to take the test will request their intent in writing to the Program Director at least one month prior to the exam date. The Program Director will write and administer the exam on that date.
The department Chair will appoint at least three full-time faculty to blindly grade the exams. The Chair will collect and tally the exam grade results and report them to the student, the Registrar, the student's advisor, and the Program Director.
