Dr. Maiko has a Ph.D. from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a major in Missions and History. He also holds an S.T.M in Youth Culture and Psychology from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. His B.S. in Religion and History is from St. Paul’s University, Limuru, Kenya. His research interests include 18th and 19th century Africa, mainly studying the impact of slavery, Islam, Christianity, and Colonialism on East African countries.
Dr. Maiko has published many articles and a book on African youth, and he has reviewed over 15 books on Christianity, Islam, Slavery, and Colonialism. He is a member of the International Association for the Study of Youth Ministry, the American Society of Missiology, the Association of Third World Studies, the American Academy of Religion, the Association of African Studies, and the American Historical Association. Dr. Maiko is also the founder and director of Crime Victim Care of Allen County, in addition to being a member of several boards and organizations in the Fort Wayne community.
