Dr. Bard teaches physics, earth sciences and introductory chemistry. He is a retired US Air Force officer who has served over 22 years on active duty. During his military career, he served as an advanced weather officer and as a staff and command officer in Special Operations Command throughout the US, Europe and the Middle East. His research interests include the use of artificial intelligence to study and identify minerals. He employs neural networks and pattern recognition software to determine retardation colors of minerals observed with a polarized light microscope.
