Welcome to the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Saint Francis. My name is Don Giles and this marks my inaugural year as Dean of Arts and Sciences at Saint Francis. After serving as a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Kentucky for eleven years and Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies, as well as dean of arts and sciences at St. Catharine College for ten years, I am extremely excited about being at the University of Saint Francis and a part of all of the wonderful programs and engaging extracurricular experiences that the School of Arts and Sciences offers. The A&S faculty are qualified and dedicated professionals with many years of experience in their chosen disciplines. They are also sensitive to the needs and demands in today's workforce. As a result, through course and program design, general education curriculum, research, internships, capstone experiences, and our unique Academic Exploration program, the A&S faculty thrive on exposing students to an invigorating, integrative education with particular importance placed on the fusion of a liberal arts education with the practical demands of the 21st century. Our faculty also skillfully incorporate the Franciscan values of reverence, learning, service, peace and justice, and respect for all creation both in and outside the classroom.
If you have any questions about the School of Arts and Sciences, our degree programs, the Three Rivers Science Symposium, Franciscan Studies, the John Dun Scotus Honors Program, our many clubs, or our faculty, I encourage you to contact me at dgiles@sf.edu. You may also contact Trina Herber, Assistant to the Dean at therber@sf.edu. Thank you for your interest in the University of Saint Francis and the School of Arts and Sciences.
