Frequently Asked Questions
Am I required to attend Mass?
The University of Saint Francis welcomes students of all denominations. Daily mass is held throughout the school year. Attendance is welcomed, but not mandatory.
Can I attend part-time?
Students are free to take classes at their own pace, and many enroll in only one class each semester. Unfortunately, this does postpone their eventual graduation, but the benefits can outweigh this delay. In addition, some programs may have scheduling guidelines. Please check with your Admissions Counselor before making a final decision.
What is your out-of-state tuition?
As a private university, our tuition rates remain the same for all students, regardless of your state or country of origin. See the current Tuition and Fees.
Which of my credits will transfer?
All transcripts will be reviewed for transfer credit. Some restrictions related to grades earned and desired major do apply. Please see the Registrar for more information.
Am I required to live on campus?
All full-time undergraduate students under the age of 21 who are unmarried and not living with their parent(s) or guardian are required to live on campus. A student is free to live off campus in the semester in which he/she reaches his/her 21st birthday. Violation of this policy will result in the charge of room and board to the student’s account and a letter of notification to the student.
Can I study abroad?
The School of Creative Arts, School of Arts and Sciences, and the Keith Busse School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership all offer opportunities for learning abroad. Trips are taken throughout the year, and courses are offered for credit to both prepare you for the experience and facilitate learning while at your destination. Please contact these schools for more information, or click here to learn more about our Field Studies in the Bahamas.
Can I have a car on campus?
Yes, any student can have a car on campus for no additional fee. Parking permits are provided by the security office on a first-come, first-served basis. Student parking areas are clearly marked and located near all residence halls and academic buildings.
How do I get my books?
Once you have registered for classes, you may reserve your books online via the Campus Shoppe or visit the store in the Pope John Paul II Center, Room 111. Please have a copy of your schedule ready to ensure speedy and accurate service.
What do graduates do with their degrees?
The answer to this depends very much on your selected major. Many of our graduates have gone on to be valued and respected contributors to their fields of expertise. According to the latest survey of our graduates, 95 percent reported being employed, 85 percent in a field relating to their major, and 13 percent were pursuing another degree (graduate or bachelor’s). All in all, 98.7 percent of responding graduates either work or have started more schooling.
How can I graduate in four years?
Most majors are designed to be completed in four years by full-time students. With a little planning and continuing discussions with your academic advisor, you should have no problem achieving this goal. Only two of our programs require more than four years, and both of these programs -- the Education triple licensure option and the 6-year Physician’s Assistant program -- offer their own advantages. See your Admissions Counselor for more details.
How safe is campus?
Security personnel are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to assist you. The primary function of the Security office is to protect the persons and property of the campus community through the patrolling of buildings and grounds and by response to emergency situations. Security is also able to provide escorts when needed. In addition, Residence Halls observe a strict visitation policy and entry doors require keycard access. Contact Security or call them at 260-434-3222.
