Benefits
of Living on Campus:
-
Location! Residents are close to everything they need
-- classes, student organization meetings, Student
Academic Support Services, their residence, food,
and practices.
-
Friendships! Residential students develop many
friendships that last a lifetime.
-
Life Balance! Living on-campus allows students to
maintain a greater balance in their life with
studying and activities. Athletes, especially, can
maximize the use of their time with less travel.
-
Readily Available Support! Upper-class Resident
Assistants and full time Hall Directors living in
the residence halls provide 24-hour support to
residents.
-
All the Little Conveniences of Home! All residents are
provided with a phone jack, voice mail, cable TV,
and internet. All of this at no extra charge!
-
Enhanced Academic and Educational Opportunities!
Resident students have greater opportunities to
develop study groups and access computer facilities.
If a student has his/her own computer, he/she has
Internet access in the residence hall rooms.
Resident Assistants provide educational programming
in the halls, and faculty and staff members are
invited in for programs.
-
Opportunities for Development of Social Skills!
Residential students learn a great deal about how to
get along with others. Resident Assistants'
programming facilitates community development for
residents.
-
Campus Involvement! In addition to the many clubs and
activities on campus, opportunities for involvement
and leadership in the residence halls abound! Each
hall has a Residence Hall Council. The Residence
Hall Councils are governed by the Residence Hall
Association. The positions are elected and
appointed. These organizations are vehicles for
residents to have an impact on their community
through programming and decision-making.
-
Meal Times! The food service provides excellent,
all-you-can-eat meals on campus. There is also a
Subway restaurant located on campus.
-
Counseling and Medical Help! Counseling and access to
RediMed Services are available via your health fee!
(extra sessions or medical tests/medication may be
charged to residents).
-
Retention! Students who make significant connections
on their college campus are more likely to graduate.
Residential students have more chances to make
important connections since they live on campus.
