Penny Wars are on! Babies win!
You can "change" life for babies! All throughout March we're going to be raising money to buy baby formula, which will be sent to Haiti with a local mission group. This project was started on campus by a student... and now nursing students are going to pitch in! But of course, being nursing students, we have to kick it up a notch so we're starting a war--a penny war! Here's how it works:

When you drop silver coins or paper money into your class collection jar, you're contributing toward your class total. But if anyone puts pennies in your class jar, those pennies are subtracted from your class total. So if you want your class to win, put lots of silver and paper in your own class jar, and even more pennies in the other classes' jars! So for example: If Katy, a generous BSN senior, puts a $5 bill in her class jar, and then Anne, a competitive second-year ASN student, puts 100 pennies in the BSN Seniors jar, the BSN seniors only have $4 counted towards their total for the fund drive.

The collection jars are in the Nursing office and we’ll be sharing updates with you as the month goes on. Game on!

Dynamic students needed at Steel Dynamics
Show what a "dynamic" person you are by volunteering for a health fair at Steel Dynamics, Inc. on April 11 and 15 from 0830-1630 each day. A group of our fellow nursing students is organizing this event and they need our help with basic assessments (vitals, BMI, etc.) and other miscellaneous duties to keep the health fair running. You can sign up to work a shift on Julie Richardson's door in the Nursing Commons (look for the door with the cute dogs on it). Steel Dynamics is in Columbia City, roughly at the corner of Highway 30 and County Line Road. (Directions will be sent to those who sign up.) For more information, contact Sarah Maffey at maffeysn@gmail.com .

Keep on learning—about USF’s MSN programs
Interested in learning more about USF's MSN programs? Want to learn how you can go straight from your ASN to your MSN? SNA is here to help! Mindy Yoder, MSN, APRN, BC, our BSN/MSN program director, will tell us all about it from 11am-noon on Monday, April 14. Location to be announced--stay tuned. We'll have cookies, too, so bring your lunch and learn about learning!

It’s almost election season!
No, we’re not talking about Clinton, Huckabee, McCain, and Obama—we’re talking about YOU!! In a few weeks we’ll be selecting next year’s SNA officers. Were you born to lead? Or born to help make nursing school really fun? Want to learn more? Talk to any current officer, class rep, or adviser Rene DePew, and watch for more info about elections coming soon.
