Symposia Offer Scholarships, Collegiate Experience to High School Students
January 30, 2008, Fort Wayne,
Indiana: The School of Arts and Sciences at the
University of Saint Francis is hosting a Science
Symposium and a Humanities Symposium for high school
sophomores, juniors and seniors on Friday, March 7.
The event will give students the
opportunity to do research at the college level and win
a USF scholarship.
The Science Symposium has three
topics for students: “Crime Scene Investigator,” an
introduction into the world of high-tech crime
investigation, “Short-Cut Math,” to help students learn
more efficient math skills, and “MRSA—Menace or Myth?,”
a case study on the MRSA panic.
The Humanities Symposium will offer
two topics, “Mudslinging 101: Politics, Propaganda and
Parody,” which will examine political ads and allow
students the chance to make their own parody of one, and
“Creation to Crusades,” a three-part workshop delving
into modern and medieval topics in Philosophy and
Theology.
