“Prometheus-Frankenstein” Presented by
Kóan Jeff Baysa, M.D. at the University of Saint Francis
March 31, 2008, Fort Wayne, Indiana:
The School of Creative Arts at the University of Saint
Francis will host a free, public lecture by Dr. Kóan
Jeff Baysa, M.D., Head of the New York Curatorial Office
for the Museum of Contemporary Art China, for his
lecture “Prometheus-Frankenstein” on Wednesday, April 23
at 7:30 p.m. in North Campus Auditorium (2702 Spring
Street).
“Prometheus-Frankenstein” is about
artists who have incorporated their formal medical
training into an artistic practice. All of these
professionals have medical degrees and some have
chosen—in part or in whole—the full-time practice of
clinical medicine to follow their muses.
“Prometheus-Frankenstein” is a pairing of the name of
the demigod who is perpetually punished for giving fire
to man, with the name of the physician that became
synonymous with the monster that he created. Many
writers—such as Anton Chekhov—musicians and visual
artists have exemplified this idea.
This lecture is free to the public
and presented in part by Arts United of Greater Fort
Wayne, the Indiana Arts Commission, a state agency, and
the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
