FlyBase
A database of genetic and molecular data for Drosophila
Graphics Gallery
The Graphics Gallery is a series of labeled diagrams with explanations representing the important processes of molecular and cell biology. Each diagram is followed by a summary of information, providing a context for the process illustrated.
Guide to Sequence Searching
Highwire Press
An large archive of
full-text journals in the biological, medical, physical and social
sciences, with 460,997 free articles from 341 HighWire-based journals.
PLEASE NOTE: WHILE SOME FULL-TEXT IS AVAILABLE FREE, OTHER JOURNALS AT
THIS SITE REQUIRE A SUBSCRIPTION OR CHARGE A FEE FOR FULL-TEXT.
From Harvard University
Human Genome Project Information
Although the main purpose of this award-winning governmental site is
to disseminate "information about the U.S. and worldwide Human
Genome Projects," it actually offers a wealth of general research
information on genetics and bioethics. Clicking on the "About HGP"
link will lead to yet more links, including a "Genetics 101"
introduction, a glossary of terms, a list of acronyms, a FAQ
section, and an extensive list of links to other genome web pages.
From the home page, the "Ethical, Legal, Social Issues" section
includes a very useful page on legislation and links to journal
articles on court actions. This site is an excellent starting point
for research on the hot issues in bioethics.
KEGG - Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes
An excellent resource emphasizing sequence to function data. It contains (metabolic and regulatory) pathway maps, molecular catalogs, genome maps and gene catalogs and can be searched by EC numbers or enzymes, by compound numbers for chemical compounds, and gene accessions for specific genes.
Kimball's Biology Pages
A hypertext dictionary specializing in cell and molecular biology, by John W. Kimball, emeritus biology professor, Harvard.
LabGuide Online
The American Chemical Society's buyer's guide for laboratory products and services.
NSDL The National Science Digital Library (NSDL), a National
Science Foundation (NSF) website, offers free science-related
resources to the public, including text, graphics, interactive
video, links, and other resources pertinent to computing,
engineering, global mapping, physics, mathematics, earth
science, paleontology, and more.
National Cancer Institute Database at ChemFinder.Com
A database of over 200,000 molecules, with anti-cancer and anti-HIV assay data, as well as chemical synonyms and 2-D structures. Searchable by chemical name, CAS registry number and structure (with ChemDraw plug-in.)
National Center for Biotechnology Information
Includes the GenBank database, PubMed, and other online genetics and molecular biology resources.
NDB Biological Structure
Resource Structural information on nucleic acids and proteins
NetAnatomy.com
NetAnatomy is designed to teach human anatomy to students of the
health professions, including undergraduate medical, health
sciences, and nursing students.

SORA Electronic Journal
Database
The SORA project is an open access electronic journal
archive and is the product of a collaboration between the American
Ornithologists Union, the Cooper Ornithological Society, the
Association of Field Ornithologists, the Wilson Ornithological
Society and the University of New Mexico libraries and IT
department. This archive provides access to an extensive
Ornithological literature of international scope, and detailed
material documenting the history of Ornithology in North America
over the last 120 years. The content of this site includes the
following titles: The Auk (1884-1999), The Condor (1899-2000), The
Journal of Field Ornithology (1930-1999), The North American Bird
Bander (1976-2000), Pacific Coast Avifauna (1900-1974), Studies in
Avian Biology (1978-1999), and The Wilson Bulletin (1889-1999). Also
available with browse-only capability is Ornithologia Neotropical;
we hope to be able to index this journal soon, and include searching
across its contents. We hope to be able to expand the content
available as more Societies and journals join.
Sustainability:
Science, Practice, & Policy
A new peer-reviewed,
open access journal which provides a platform for the
dissemination of new practices and for dialogue emerging out of
the field of sustainability.
UN Water
Website created and maintained by the UN Water organization.
In 2003, UN-Water was endorsed as the new official United
Nations mechanism for follow-up of the water-related decisions
reached at the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development and
the Millennium Development Goals. It will support Member States
in their efforts to achieve water and sanitation goals and
targets.
