Program Description
The University of Saint Francis offers Northeastern
Indiana's only Surgical Technology program accredited by
the Accreditation Review Committee for Education in
Surgical Technology (ARC/ST) in cooperation with the
Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP).
This recognition means that the university meets
national standards set for Surgical Technology
education.
The Association of Science in Surgical Technology
program is comprised of a mix of general education
courses, professional courses, laboratory and clinical
sessions. The University of Saint Francis's program is
unique in that the student participates in clinical
practice in actual operating rooms during all four
semesters. The academic emphasis as well as consistent
exposure to the surgical environment prepares the
student well for a career as a surgical technologist.
The Surgical Technology course sequence begins every
Fall, although students may start general education
classes during other semesters. Options are available
for full or part time attendance, however clinical
courses take place only during the day.
