Areas of Study: |
|
Nursing |
|
|
The university offers a
special track for Licensed Practical Nurses that may allow
completion of the Associate degree in one calendar year of
full-time study. The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
prepares students for entry-level positions in nursing.
Graduates sit for the National Council Licensure Examination
for Registered Nurses. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing
(BSN) prepares students for entry level positions, as well as
leadership and community nursing roles. Clinical instruction
begins in the sophomore year. BSN students also sit for the
licensure examination upon graduation. A special track for
Registered Nurses allows ASN and diploma RNs to prepare for
MSN coursework by taking an RN-MSN Transition Sequence of
classes. The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is a
Family Nurse Practitioner track. A Community Health & Education
track will start Fall, 2008. |
|
Physical Therapist Assistant |
|
Physical Therapy is the
assessment, evaluation and prevention of physical
disability, movement dysfunction and pain resulting from
injury, disease, disability, or other health-related
conditions. A physical therapist assistant delivers physical
therapy services under the direction of a physical
therapist. As part of a special arrangement, selected
students who successfully complete the specified coursework
at the University of Saint Francis, complete the application
requirements and take part in the interview day at
Midwestern University will be granted acceptance to the
Physical Therapy program at Midwestern.

|
Physician Assistant |
|
A Physician Assistant (PA)
graduate provides a broad spectrum of healthcare services to
patients under the supervision of a doctor of medicine or
osteopathy. These highly-skilled practitioners also
provide numerous preventative and health maintenance
functions that are characteristic of the practice of
medicine.

|
Radiologic Technology |
|
An Associate of Science in
Radiologic Technology prepares students for careers on a
healthcare team providing physicians with accurate images of
the patient for use in the diagnosis and treatment of
disease and injury. Radiographers must have the ability to
utilize computers for the acquisition and manipulation of
images, communicate effectively and provide emergency care
for patients.
|
|
Surgical Technology |
|
Surgical technologists are
crucial members of the surgical team, working closely with
surgeons, registered nurses and anesthesiologists to provide
the best possible care for the patient in surgery. The
university offers an Associate of Science in Surgical
Technology and also provides an opportunity to study for the
associate degree for those already certified as surgical
technologists.

Health Services is designed to provide career advancement
for associate degree graduates who have completed the basic
preparation in a health profession discipline. The
